The Narrative
of
Shellinda “Shelly” Spindle
of Nantuckett

Who, as an infant, having lost her Mother, and her dreams
In a horrible encounter with the Dire Pirate Rankscrap,
And the vile crew of the The Dark Carbuncle,
was confined to a barrel for many years,
and abandoned to the briny sea.

With an account of her rescue by the Whaling Ship, Grumpus,
and a brief but catastrophic harpooning encounter with
the Great Beast Gesundheidt, which sadly resulted
in her landing on a savage and uncharted isle
with only the brutish and surly Ursula
for companionship.

Continuing with their horrifying discovery of barbaric inhabitants,
preparing to cook and eat the well-mannered Dapper Lad,
the trio’s escape in a leaky canoe,
their subsequent maroonment on a sandy shoal,
and horrible sufferings from famine,
while they get to know each other.

And just when all seems lost, their miraculous recovery
by The Scabborous Bane,
a ghost ship, which transports them speedily to Lullaby Bay
then sadly encounters, a massive storm at sea,
and sinks without a trace
into the deep.

To be continued...

The Creede Initiative

We founded The Creede Initiative five years ago because the young people in Creede made it very clear to us that they needed an avenue for creative expression. This program is built on and by the vibrant energy of kids. In a very brief time, we have staged “An Afternoon of Mime,” “The Minpins: A Roald Dahl Puppet Show,” The Rainbow Goblins, Emilia’s Tree, and now Lullaby Bay. We are committed to giving young people an opportunity to work collaboratively with professional directors, lighting designers, costumers, set and puppet designers, stage managers, and technicians in order to experience first hand the entirety of the creative process of theatre. We are proud to say that everything you see on stage has been created by very colorful young people under the guidance very colorful professionals.

We love our job and admire the kids we work with. It takes tremendous courage to step on stage and explore the power of the human voice, body, and imagination. It also takes tremendous courage to speak openly about the importance of art in our children’s lives. If you know of a young person who would like to come play with us, please contact Renée Prince Stynchula, CRT’s Education Director, at 719-658-2540, x.21 or e-mail renee@creederep.com. If you would like to donate to the education department of CRT, your investment will enrich children’s lives forever.

Our most sincere thank you to The Hitchcock Foundation for believing in us year after year. Your generosity is inspiring.

With gratitude,

Renée and Ryan Prince
