CRT Internship Program

CRT is "one of the top 10 places to see the lights way off Broadway"

CRT's internship program offers its participants the following experiences:

  • Mentorship from professional directors, designers, actors, stage managers and technicians across the country.
  • The opportunity to work in a true repertory setting, producing at least six shows that run in rep in two theatres.
  • Participation in workshops and master classes focused on acting, directing, auditioning and interviewing, fundraising and more. Ask about receiving college credit!
  • Top-tier professional theatre experience in one of the most beautiful areas in the country.

Program Leaders

The Program is led by:

Maurice LaMee

CRT Executive/Artistic Director

An MFA graduate of the National Theatre Conservatory in Denver, Maurice has overseen the production of nearly 70 plays at CRT since becoming Artistic Director in 2000. He was a freelance director and actor for 15 years prior to being the director of CRT. Maurice will be leading CRT’s scene study workshops.

Renée Prince Stynchula

Education Director

Renée has been teaching Mime, Creative Drama, Storytelling, Puppetry, and Mask Technique for 8 years. She is a co-founder of The Creede Initiative, an annual collaborative play-making experience with CRT professionals and the children of rural Colorado. Renée holds a B.S.S. degree from Northwestern University and will be leading the Theatre for Youth and Mime workshops.

Jonathan D. Allsup

Project Coordinator & Production Stage Manager

Jonathan has worked at CRT since he tour managed for the Young Audience Outreach Tour in 2005. Since then he has been the Production Stage Manager for the summer and fall season calling over 200 performances for CRT; including Sweeney Todd, Urinetown: the musical, Everything in the Garden, and Crazy for You. Jonathan has also recently stage managed the midwest leg of the Nebraska Theatre Caravan National Tour of A Chris tmas Carol in 2006. Jonathan has worked as a stage manager in Chicago, at Western Washington University, Northwestern College in Orange City, IA , and at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Jonathan now lives in Creede but travels often to visit Chicago and Elizabeth.

CRT's Internship Positions

 

  Design/Technical
  Stitcher/Wardrobe:
Assist in construction, preparation, and maintenance of all costume and accessory elements. Also assist with wardrobe tasks during shows: including, but not limited to, backstage actor assistance and laundry.
   
  Props Assistant(s):
Assist props master in the construction and maintenance of props—also serve on run crew when necessary.
   
  Stage Management
  Assistant Stage Manager/Production Assistant
Assist stage managers in completion of their duties.
   
  Actors
  Actors:
Understudy roles, play supporting or chorus roles and assist in backstage and box office activities.
   
  Administrative
  Box Office/Front of House:
Assist patron services manager in completion of duties.
   
  Business/Marketing:
Assist CRT’s marketing liaison in creation and distribution of marketing materials. Assist CRT’s administrative staff.

All interns must be at least 18 years of age. Also, interns must be pursuing a degree in the field for which they are applying or have equivalent work experience.

Compensation

 

  Interns
  • Weekly Salary ($125.00 per week).
  • Free (double occupancy) housing (laundry included) in our newly constructed/refurbished theatre housing campus for the duration of their contracts.

Please note that all interns will be working in the box office as needed. For any one or all of these positions, it is possible that we would accept more than one intern. The needs and limitations of each season dictate the number and areas available.

Application Requirements and Deadlines

Applications must be received by March 1, 2008 and must include the following :

  • A completed application: Internship Application Form (pdf file).
  • A current resume.
  • A statement of intent.
  • One letter of recommendation (suggested but not required).
  • Actors: Please also include a recent photo and a DVD or VHS of two contrasting monologues and a song, if applicable.
