Dear Friends and Patrons,
We continued our growth in 2007 with the addition
of four new chapters located in Iowa, Denver, Taos,
and Alamosa. The individuals who agreed to help
enlist members in these new areas have brought
not only the opportunity to grow our membership,
but some new excitement and ideas for even more
growth. I am continually encouraged by our members
to search for people to serve as chairpersons for
new chapters from other cities in Colorado, as
well as other states, who share our vision to grow
into a support group of at least 1,000 members.
Perhaps we could adopt the 2008 season as the “Year
of the Friend”. Events are being planned
that will allow you to get acquainted with members
from other chapters and the CRT summer staff. You
will want to join a chapter in your area or one
of the local chapters if you spend the summer around
Creede. You may even wish to begin a chapter and
host a membership event sometime this spring.
Friends of CRT will have a wonderful opportunity
to be part of this new venture in expanding the
programming to a new site for the Black Box. CRT
has purchased the Bob Ford Mall and will be renovating
during the coming season to officially open for
the 2009 season. Let’s join together to be
a significant partner in these exciting days ahead!
I do want to remind you of the traditional activities
hosted by Friends and invite any of you to be part
of these fun-filled events. There always is room
for those who want to be involved. Don’t
hesitate to contact us if you would like to be
part of these activities:
- Meet the Company Dessert Auction—A
potluck dinner is provided by the community
and desserts are prepared by the actors
who also provide the entertainment. Their
desserts are auctioned to raise money for
CRT to begin its season. Each year Christy
Brandt’s cake is one of the favorite
items and usually goes for several hundred
dollars.
- Opening Night Dinner / Fall
Opening Night Dinner— Friends
members receive early notification of
these special dinners to open the summer
and fall seasons. We have enjoyed sumptuous
dinners prepared by local chefs and plan
to continue this tradition.
- 25% discount on tickets for either performance
when the play is presented at the matinee
and evening on the same day.
- We also have a great time hosting
receptions throughout the season in which you get
to meet CRT personnel and visit patrons
who are attending the receptions and performances.
- July 19, 11:00 a.m.— Friends first-ever
tailgate party in the parking lot between the Mineral
County Courthouse and Abbey Lane Gallery
(across the street from the theatre). You
must be a member of friends to participate,
but you can become a Friend at the gate.
There will be special events that day at
the theatre geared toward this event including
pre-show talks for the afternoon and evening
production of Quilters and free backstage
tours at 4:45 p.m. meeting in the theatre
lobby.
