Elementary School Artist Residencies
Designed to support teachers’ efforts in their classrooms, these in-school artist residencies explore schools’ curricula using the transformative power of the performing arts. Along with helping children relate deeply to what they are learning in class, students will gain confidence in their public speaking skills, explore the many facets of human communication, practice teamwork abilities, celebrate their own self expression, and increase their self-esteem. In-School Artist Residencies can range from 2 weeks to 2 months and will be designed with school staff to best fit the school’s schedule. CRT’s teaching artists will work with school staff to determine the subject to be explored. Students may also choose to explore the technical side of theatre such as costuming, scenery, props, stage management, and lighting. Participants will learn the fundamental techniques of theatre while gaining confidence in their public speaking skills, exploring the many facets of human communication, practicing teamwork abilities, celebrating their own self expression, and increasing their self-esteem.
